Vidding 1-30 Day Meme '18 Edition
This is gonna be a long one....
!Day 1 - How did you first get into vidding, and what was the first fandom you vidded? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
Media Class in High School where I learned how to film, edit, storyboard, etc. I edited a scene from the short film we did to music and that's where I discovered I really liked editing music videos. I started to edit music videos on my own to Musicians, then expanded into making butt loads of vids to Supernatural. Supernatural was the first tv show fandom that I got super into after Buffy The Vampire Slayer had been off the air.
!Day 2 - Name the fandoms you've vidded in, and how many vids you've made in that fandom, and if you still vid in it.
A lot, but I ain't about to sit here and make a huge list of them. I've got them all listed here - http://winterevanesce.net/fanvids/
I can't claim I still vid in any of these fandoms, because I always change it up and find new fandoms to vid. Doesn't mean that I won't one day go back and vid one of these fandoms again though.
!Day 3 – For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to vid?
I'm not going to go through each vid I ever made, just some of the characters that I enjoyed vidding the most.

Either than that, my muse character is always Will Horton as long as Chandler Massey plays him, haha.
!Day 5 – If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a vid, what did you do about it?
I think it's happened before, but I just include them in my vid if it works. If it doesn't work, then bye, Felicia.
!Day 6 – When you vid, do you like vidding a certain kind of male or female archetype?
Males: The Lost Soul - tortured man filled with angst & passion.
Females: The Crusader - strong and determined heroines.
!Day 7 – Have you ever had a vid (of yours) change your opinion of a character?
I end up feeling a closer connection to the character(s).
!Day 8 – Have you vidded with original source? If so, why did you use original source?
I've only used outside sources, textures, overlays, etc.. I've used my own photoshop files and some After Effects stuff I made. No actual footage that I filmed and included into my vids.
!Day 9 – Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your favorite pairings to vid?
Some of them, in no particular order:

!Day 10 – Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone tried to vid a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?
No, I don't think so. I won't vid a pairing that I didn't like, lol.
!Day 11 – Genre – do you prefer making certain genres of vid? What kind do you tend to vid the most?
I pretty much always make Dark Angsty Character or Relationship Study vids and I know I make those type of videos the most. I prefer to either do dark! angsty vids, action vids or fun dance type of vids.
!Day 12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" vid of a favorite media source but set in a different fandom? (I.e., attempted to bring the 'feel' or 'mood' of one source to a different fandom, like the zombie Mary Poppins vid)
I'm gonna say no.
!Day 13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you vid (canon shots vs. using shots out of context; AU vs. canon)? Has vidding for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?
Canon is my preference, but I do often slip in some Fanon as well from time to time. I think vidding for a fandom definitely makes me think more about the source more than it would If I wasn't vidding it.
!Day 14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever vidded higher than you're comfortable with? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the vid you're making is G-rated instead?
I've definitely gotten more comfortable through out the years with adding stuff in my vids that I probably wouldn't have back when I first started. I don't have any vids I've made that I could even consider NC-17. With the horror vids I make, even those I tone down especially if there is gore in the original source, but that's my personal preference. I just don't want to re-watch nasty gore scenes over and over, lol. My vids are typically G-Rated to PG-13.
!Day 15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a vid?
Gore and sensitive subjects. I pretty much always warn for Stuttery clip cuts, because that's in like all of my vids and is my editing style. There really hasn't been anything strange I've had to warn for.
!Day 16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?
Simple answer: I make it easy for myself and just use lyrics from the song I used that basically summarizes the idea of the vid.
!Day 17 – Titles – Do you try to use something different than the song? Why or why not?
It's rare if I use something other than the song's title. I only change it up if I feel like another word from either the lyrics or something I come up with works better.
!Day 18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your vids from?
The character(s)/relationship(s)
!Day 19 – When you have vid ideas, do you sit down and start vidding right away, or do you write down the idea for further exploration later?
I normally don't ever vid right away as soon as I get a vid idea. I collect the song(s) / idea(s) and pretty much sit on them for days, months and even years. It's rare for me, but sometimes I do vid within the month of when I first got my video idea. The only recent video where I was on it super quick was one of my vividcon premieres. I watched the source and the next day I started making a vid to it, but I had literally a week till the end of deadlines.
!Day 20 – Do you ever get ideas inspired from other people's stories, vids, or art in the same fandom?
Of course. There is one vid in particular for Malec I want to make that the "coloring and feel/mood" was inspired by a gifset I stumbled upon.
!Day 21 – Sequels – Have you ever created a sequel to a vid you made, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?
I haven't, but that sounds cool.
!Day 22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?
I've participated in Festivids a few times. My favorite experience is getting my assignment and being excited about the awesome vid I'm gonna make for the other vidder. Then when the vids go live, I have a bunch of awesome new vids to watch and getting feedback from the vidder I made the vid for and everyone else feedback. I always look forward to festivids every year.
I have yet to participate in Equinox Exchange. I wanted to make vids for the last one, but it ran during the same time as Vividcon deadlines. I will participate one of these days :)
!Day 23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

!Day 24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your vid? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?
Does my best friend count? I sometimes go to her for a opinion if I'm having doubts.
!Day 25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you rip source? Do you listen to your vid song immediately before vidding, months before vidding, or just while working on it?
Who rips source anymore? I go the download / convert route. I listen to my vid songs for months. Some might be from years ago, so for a while I won't listen to those but if I decide I want to make an old vid idea then I start listening to the song a lot. Once i've made the vid then I'll only listen to the song again when re-watching my vids.
!Day 26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to do for a vid?
- Does one of my new Vividcon premieres count? :)
- AU Vid on top of AU source. "Like A Boss" (Supernatural) vid
- Making the characters I vid lip-sync to the music. Example: "Womanizer", "Red Love" and more.
- "Death Wish" vid I made, I had to change the ' Fuck ' dialogue that he screams to another part where his voice didn't crack lol.. The actors voice cracked so much in this movie lol.
I'm sure there is more, but can't think of anything else right now.
!Day 27 – Where is your favorite place to vid? Where would be your perfect vidding spot?
In my room is where all the action happens. My favorite vidding spot is basically anywhere I can get my own privacy without anyone bothering me.
!Day 28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether vidding together, or having an artist or writer work on a piece about your vid?
I haven't. Anyone want to collaborate? lol
!Day 29 – What is your current project or projects?
I don't even know sometimes because I want to vid certain ideas, but then I end up not doing it or dragging it to another year lol.
There is one that I'm slowly working on that is dark and disturbing, but I am still unsure about how it's all going to come together. I'm not going to name the fandoms, but it's on two different movies that I'm trying to combine and yeah, it's gay with both femslash and boyslash.
!Day 30 – Do you have a favorite vid you've made? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
I'm going to only list the most recent ones that have been my favorite. Once a video is a few years old, I still love them, but I don't have much of that excitement/passion for them like I did when I first made them... you know?

It's a video I've been dying to make for a year now. I loved working on this video. One of my favorite characters to vid and to be able to tell his story (which is a fucked up one).
- "Is It Safe Now?" (Eyewitness)
I mean, two hot gays with a mix of crime/drama. This video was insane to make, but I love it so much.
- "Desire" (Heartless)
I mean, another two hot gays with a mix of supernatural/drama.
- "Never Wake Me Up" (Multi)
My childhood dream of a vid. This video will forever be special and warm to my heart. The video that I'm the most proud of.
