January 16th - What's your favorite fanvid(s) you've made? (requested by [personal profile] aurumcalendula )

I say to myself every time I make a new vid, "Oh this is now my new favorite!"...
So...I will list the ones I re-watch the most out of all of my vids and kind of go into more detail.

Genre: Psychological Thriller
"Voices" (Black Swan / Closet Monster, etc..) - I had this idea for years that I wanted to do a crossover between these films. I saw so many parallels between the both & it's main characters that I just had to create this vid. Both Nina & Oscar have issues with their parents and are both pretty toxic. They both go down a path of trying to discover a part of themselves which leads to hallucinations and psychological distress. They are both extremely hard on themselves when they feel like they have failed something they were trying to achieve and They both struggle with expressing their sexuality. So basically both characters go down a dark path. As for what I love about this video is honestly it's the song choice and the editing along side the disturbing images. I just know for a fact that this is the video I re-watch the most of all the videos I have made so that is why it's the first one I am listing.

Genre: Character Study
"Howl" (Falling Skies) - Ben Mason is my favorite character out of all the tv shows I have watched. I have always loved characters who were different with unique gifts and not normal like everybody else. Ben knows and understands who the real enemy is and does everything he can to stop them. While most of the other kids who were changed like him turned evil and sided with the enemies team; Ben chose the good side (humanity) & fought the good fight and I love him for that. What went wrong with him, he used it to his advantage to beat aliens who took him & changed him. No matter how many times he lost someone he cared for, he kept going and never gave up. Back when I edited this vid, I remember I couldn't find a good character study on Ben online, so I knew that I wanted this to turn out the best it could be. There is a lot of layers to Ben and lots of other storylines going on, but I really wanted to focus on my favorite part of his story which was him against the skitters (aliens).

Genre: Boy Slash
"Losing Grip" (As The World Turns) - Luke/Noah was my first fav gay ship. I hated how the show ruined their relationship in the end though, but I really love angsty stuff so I wanted to make this using Luke's POV and showing why the relationship went bad. Luke got very easily jealous when it came to Noah and felt a lot like the third wheel. Noah had his reasonings for the choices he made, but Luke really couldn't deal with any of it. Back then, panning a lot was a thing in video editing especially because of Sony Vegas making it easy to do that. So I used a whole lot of panning, which I doubt I would use it in this way again, but since the source footage was soooo static and the song is very upbeat and high intensity; It works best with all the added movement. It kind of feels like being on a rollercoaster of angst lol. I don't know how much more to add, but that I just love how angsty this vid is and watching Luke lose his shit over and over. This video was actually very inspired by another angsty Luke/Noah vid that I watched years ago & it was what motivated me to make my own version.

Genre: Vampire/Human Romance
"Lonely B*tch" (Love Sucks) - This one is a new vid & I definitely like to watch this one. I ended up liking this show a little too much & really wanted to make this video. It ended up coming out better than I could imagine. I don't have a ton more to say about this either than I love the song used, the storyline and the atmosphere of it. It was also just so much fun to make and is a lot of fun to watch!

Genre: Comedy (Dance, Bloopers, Gag Reel)
"How We Roll" (Supernatural) - I waited many years to create this fanvid till I had enough source material and it paid off for me. This video is just so much fun & puts me in a good mood every time. I feel like Supernatural was one of the only shows that really delivered on these blooper reels every single season and Jared + Jensen have such an awesome sense of humor. This video was also pretty different from all of my other videos with it being so focused on behind the scenes footage.

Genre: Asian Drama/Romance/Comedy
"Cartoon" (Hi, My Sweetheart) - I made this a long time ago for my birthday. I was a huge fan of Skye Sweetnam's music and I loved this Asian drama! I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers storyline. The show has a lot of wacky and fun silly moments. I had so much fun making this video & still enjoy watching it over and over.
winterevanesce: (l&k: tyler+kins-lookup)
Stole this from Tumblr, but I added some questions I thought up as well...and was bored so I felt like filling one of these out. It gives me a better idea how I work, what I like, etc... Here's the vidding meme questions no one asked me to answer lol. Feel free to steal and replace my answers with yours on your own post.

What program do you use?
In 2006, I used Adobe Premiere Pro (didn't love it though) and by January 2007, I completely switched to Sony Vegas aka Vegas Pro. I use primarily Vegas Pro 14 and occasionally for other projects I've used CapCut for shorter form "homemade" vids.

Favorite fandom to vid for?
I haven't actually officially edited this fandom yet, but I already know I'm gonna enjoy creating vids for it based on all the video ideas I have + song selection and that fandom is Locke & Key. I took a 4 year Hiatus before I was able to start working on them, but taking a break gave me even more ideas to play with + rewatching the show helped. Then the second fandom would be Falling Skies because I am also excited for the vid ideas + song selections I have for that fandom as well.

Favorite ship?
Currently..... it is James Beaufort x Ruby Bell (Maxton Hall) and Belly x Conrad & Belly x Jeremiah (The Summer I Turned Pretty)

Vid you're the proudest of?
"Never Wake Me Up" (Multi-Fantasy) was blood, sweat and tears of research, collecting all the sources + watching new sources, piecing them all together for parallels, storytelling, etc..

Hardest vid to edit?
"Own Little World" (Jennifers Body) because of the song choice and especially the beginning of the video was so out of my comfort zone editing wise. I even had to take like several breaks + long delays on making this vid.

Easiest vid to edit?
These two vids I purposely made just to vid something or to use to get me back into video editing after taking a hiatus. I didn't want to do anything fancy. I wanted it to be super simple and require barely any brain power lol. Surprisingly both did pretty decent with views on youtube. "You're Beautiful" (Skins Pure) "Come a Little Closer" (Heartbeat Love)

Have you participated in any collabs/meps?
No, I think I tried too, but it never worked out

Have you made a vid for a fanfic author?
So.... One time, I read this awesome Luke/Noah fanfic that I absolutely loved. I remember I made a graphic/playlist for the fanfic but I had plans to actually create a video for it. It was about Luke I believe having amnesia and it was so angsty. It was the first fanfic that grasped my attention, but anyways.. time passed and I never got to make the vid.

Here is the fanfic. "A Life Adrift"

I honestly would like to pick up reading fanfic again and to challenge myself in this way to create vids for them.

How many WIPs do you have?
Atleast 12 vids... currently lol.. 1 vid is finished, but it's for next year...

What are some fandoms and/or ships you'd like to vid for but haven't yet?
Like the ones I mentioned above and these ships: James Beaufort x Ruby Bell (Maxton Hall) **coming soon*** and Belly x Conrad (The Summer I Turned Pretty) **decided to wait till season 3 comes out for more footage**

A fandom that you probably won't vid ever again
Supernatural. I quit watching it after so many seasons and the love I had for it just died one day. I don't know... I still love some of the vids I made for the show, but I just moved on to other fandoms.

What was the best comment you've received on one of your vids?
That is hard.... I've received so many great comments... I can't choose eek! I do know that back in the times of Livejournal, that's where I got the best comments/feedback at. People actually took the time to really write out their thoughts. Now days, It's like a thumbs up or down and a simple "cool vid bro" type of comment. I am guilty of being short and sweet too, but I actually have a hard time breaking down my thoughts when commenting lol so I squee instead.

Have you vid any OCs?
Hmm.... sort of but not really.

Most underrated vid that you wished had gotten more views?
"Voices" (Black Swan x Closet Monster) I freaking love that crazy lil vid! It's on the shorter side, but it was so fun to edit. I did not give up until this vid came into existence lol. I just couldn't put this vid idea to rest. I even edited a first version of it to another song, but ultimately scrapped the other one and went with Voices instead (the second version).

Vid that took you the longest the edit?
"Own Little World" like I mentioned above. "Let Go" (ATS: Angel + Connor) and most of the multi-fandom ones I made.

Longest vid you ever made?
"Let Go" at over 5 minutes long. The second longest is "Desire" (Heartless) at almost 5 minutes long.

Shortest vid you ever made?
"Bury Me Low
(What Doesn't Kill You) **warning: suicide**, and "Florets" (Stargirl: Movie)

Any Unreleased or Unfinished Vids / Projects you wished were completed?
A couple.... this Teen Wolf Vid. A Luke/Noah vid focusing on one of the crazy storylines of shenanigans they got thrown into. A Will x Sonny vid to a slower song, sweet and angsty. Ouran High School Host Club (japanese drama) a fun vid to a boy band song. Hi! My Sweetheart that was a sad, heartbreaking, but cute vid (way different from the vid I did actually release called Cartoon). Life (japanese drama) to a super angsty song focusing on "bullying". You're Beautiful (korean drama) cute fanvid. Dream High (korean drama) fun dance vid.

If any of these sound interesting to you, let me know and I may or may not pick them up. It depends...

Favorite thumbnail for one of your vids?
Ohhhh man.... I narrowed it down to 2 of them.

1. Stupid Girl - I have just always loved this one. with the grey and red. It's got that creepy vibe that was fitting for the vid itself.

2. Is it Safe Now? - IDK, I just really like how this one turned out all together.

Most used artist?
As of right now, Skye Sweetnam & Ashlee Simpson. They both had some really fun songs.

Favorite artist to vid to?
Hmm.. There's a couple new artist that I'm currently in the process editing to that would fit under here, but based on my past vids... I would say Britt Nicole, which I worked on 3 of her songs, one of them was unfinished. I was planning on calling it the "britt nicole project" because I had planned to edit a wide variety of her songs, but ended up scrapping a lot of the vid ideas.

A vid you made with a unique song choice?
I would say "A Great White Whale" (Twilight)

Vid with the most views? The least?
"Death Wish"
(Better Watch Out) with the most at over 350,000+ views. Why you may ask? Honestly I don't know the answer to that one... lol... maybe it was Levi Millers fanbase or something...

"Bringin da Noise(HSM: the Musical) with less than 300 views. A tv series that I know had a pretty big following has the least views lol. Make it make sense. Maybe if I said it was a shipper vid lol, but it's not...

How many subscribers do you have?
Check my youtube.

How would you describe your vidding style?
Fun and Snappy! I love fast pace upbeat music and I feel like I shine with those. I'm always trying to hit the beats lol. I'm big on crossfades, zoom ins, quick cuts, overlays, etc.

Have you made any AUs?
Yes... once upon a time.. "Your Love Is A Lie" (SPN), "Stupid Girl" (SPN), "The Loneliest Girl in the World" (SPN x Avril). I would love to make more of these kind of vids, but I have to be in the right headspace to do it.

Have you made any friends from vidding?
Yes :)

When and why did you get started?
I learned how to film and edit at school. I was given the assignment to edit our school's film to music and that is what made me fall in love with editing footage to music. Since at a young age, I was always huge fangirl and before I expressed my love for certain artist and actors by creating fan websites for them. Creating fan websites was a huge task and me trying to keep up with that just died out for me. Then once I started creating fanvids, I first started off making only musician fanvids, then started working on movies and tv shows. The rest was history. I had finally found my favorite creative outlet.

How long have you been vidding for?
Since 2006.

Any vidding rituals you have?
First, I always have a private spotify playlist of songs I love that I want to vid, and add as I go... I start off with a song that I like and match it to a source or I purposely hunt down a song for a source/vid idea I want to vid. I listen to those songs 100+ times and visually picture what scenes I want for the lyrics / instrumental parts. Then I gather the source, clip cut the whole movie or show, etc first on the timeline. I usually edit the songs I use and shorten them based on how much source I have to work with. Add markers to the clips I cut to find certain clips a little faster. On a rare occasion, I print out the lyrics and write notes of what clips I want to use if my memory serves me right. I usually work on my vids chronologically from the start of the song working towards the end, but sometimes I do go out of order if I already know where I'm planning to place certain clips in the song I'm using. Once I've pieced almost the whole video together, I usually start looking for any imperfections and fix them. Once done, then I color my vids. I just can't do the original source how it comes lol. Coloring brings it all to life for me. Add any text if needed + my watermark. Render, Watch 100+ times while editing and after editing, then finish <3.. Rinse and Repeat!

Advice for anyone just starting their channel?
Just have fun! Create what inspires you. Don't try and go for what's always popular. Try to find your creative footprint instead of trying to copy / mimic the top fanvidder creators. It's so much more freeing just being yourself and working on video projects that you are passionate about. If you are not passionate or excited for a vid you are working on, then try and find what does that for you. It makes a world of difference when you vid what you love. The views can be low for some vids, and sometimes you can get a lot of views, but remember.. even if only a couple people watch your vid, that shouldn't determine how you feel about your own vid. At the end of the day, if you love it then it's already a win win. Vid for you, don't vid for comments, likes and subscriber count. If you are gifting a vid, then do it for that person who will appreciate it :).

the end...

Read all of the Day 1-30 Questions/Answers )
winterevanesce: (the100: clark)
Felt like doing one of these since Vidding is on my mind. Stolen from this old post.

Questions / Answers: (Some questions removed fyi)

1. Describe your comfort zone—a typical you-vid.
I like easy, simple editing like clean cuts and crossfade transitions. If I feel like a vid could be best with added effects and what not, then that's when i'm out of my comfort zone. Also I get really intimidated with large amounts of footage, so you rarely see me take on TV shows that go passed 5 seasons or huge mutli-fandom vids. If i'm passionate enough about the video idea, I will eventually take on these kind of "huge or flashy" vids regardless. It's good to challenge yourself every once in a while.

2. Is there a genre or style you've yet to try your hand at, but really want to?
I feel like I've covered most of the genre's. I can't even think of one. There was a slower paced style that I wanted to try and I did finally this year. I always love fast everything and changing it up to something slower was a really, really nice change. There's so many different styles of editing, and so many that i've seen people come up with and they are cool as hell, but I like doing my "style" you know..

3. Is there a genre or style you wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole?
I still can't touch the whole "Voiceover" in vids style. I know there's a way to do it right, but seeing so many vidders doing it wrong makes me cringe to the extreme. I have seen some fantastic voiceovers / sound effects added though so it definitely can enhance the vid if done right. It's not my style though. I enjoy hearing the music than distracting as hell voiceovers that can sometimes make my ears bleed 'cause it's too damn loud or just sounds terrible. I'd rather see the emotion & story through the clips/song.

4. How many vid ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share one of them?
I have so many vids that are sitting undone, either from lost of interest or what not. Plus a huge vid list I haven't even started. Recently for the past 2 years, I have finished all the vids I started so that's progress! I have several multi fandom vid ideas that I'd love to work on. Thinking of some action and more dance ones for next years CVV. I don't really like to share my "Ideas" too much online before I make the vids.

5. Share one of your strengths.
Probably one of my favorite strengths is my sense of musicality. I discovered this kind of by accident I feel like. I just dropped a certain clip and it went with the music (example: Wind sound effects in song - synced with Wind blowing clip). Ever since then, It's something I love to focus on in most of my vids. I also think I handle relationship or character studies pretty well and matching the emotion on characters faces with the music.

6. Share one of your weaknesses.
I feel like one of my weaknesses is probably not experimenting more. I kind of always have the mindset of "Let me just get this done as quickly as possible before i lose interest" kind of mindset, so I don't ever take the time to play around and make something I guess more "Attractive" or "Cool". Like there's so many times when I tell myself, I want to try something different - like maybe an effect or a different way of video editing, but I just don't take the extra step and time to do them. Maybe one day!

7. Point to a section from one of your favorite vids you've made and explain why you're proud of it.
I'd say out of my recent vids, Memo is the one I'm most proud of. There's a lot of great moments in that video, but my favorite section is "2:44-2:47 - I want you to stay" because it's so beautiful and it kills me literally every time.

8. Which vid was the hardest to make?
Anything that was out of my comfort zone. Jennifer's body vid was #1 - that one took me FOREVER to finish because it was challenging for me.

9. Which vid was the easiest to make?
Anything that was short and sweet or a really small source. This one takes the cake for the easiest video I have ever made "Come a little closer"

10. Is there a section of canon above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?
"Boy Slash" canon is what inspires me more than any other canon. I'm always down for making these videos. I blame Wincest that started it all! LOL

11. If you only could vid one show/movie for the rest of your life, which show/movie would it be?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, that's my show FOR LIFE!! I could find so many video ideas just for this show, so It would last me a while.

12. Do you work mostly from start to finish, or do you vid sections out of order?
Start to Finish is the way I go, but most of the time, I do start on a section that I "Pictured" in my mind working with the song. Actually when I think about it, The bridge is always my favorite section to work on first.

13. Do you use any tools, like clip notes or storyboards?
Not really. I've been just using Markers in Sony Vegas sometimes with the name of a scene or with a line of lyrics I think the clip would work with. It's also good if you have a lot of sources, specifically multi-fandom.

14. Describe your perfect vidding conditions.
Room must be locked!! Everyone loves to bother me, and I just hate the distraction so that's my #1 always. A good pair of headphones, snacks and water. Coffee is the best pick me up if you start getting real tired, lol.

15. How many times do you usually revise your vid before posting?
Not much at all. I make sure I'm happy with what I place on the timeline before moving on because it will drive me insane.

16. Choose a section from one of your earlier vids and talk about whether and how you'd do it differently now.
A lot... I've made a lot of mistakes and to this day those videos bother me. I ask myself, "why did I choose to do this?!" lol. Any vid that was extremely literal from beginning to end I would change. I've repeated the mistake of mishearing the lyrics and using clips that went with the misinterpreted lyrics so then it makes no sense when I actually find out the lyrics were completely different. I'm getting better about looking up lyrics before I start a video these days! I won't choose a specific vid or anything, but there were many.

17. If you were to revise one of your older vids from start to finish, which would it be and why?
I always thought about revising my old Romeo and Juliet video. I made it the first year I started vidding and feel like it had potential to be a good vid, but I just failed to deliver. I watch it occasionally and think how much better I could make it! I could even turn into a video with several movie adaptions of Romeo and Juliet to spice it up.

18. Have you ever deleted one of your published vids?
Well I removed my old 2006 vids from the internet, but I still have those saved in my hard drive. I did delete a long time ago two really bad videos I made, but to this day I actually regret this decision even if they were really bad. I always think about how I would have loved to see those "flop" vids again.

19. Do you beta yourself? If so, what kind of beta are you?
Yep; I feel like i'm pretty harsh with myself when i start the vid off, but after I get into the flow of it, I can kind of relax and enjoy myself more. I just want to make sure i'm completely satisfied with what I made before I finalize and publish it.

20. How do you feel about collaborations?
Never done one before, but I'm not sure if I would ever do one. Maybe if someone out there really wanted to with me, then I would consider it. I usually like to just stick with my own stuff though.

21. Share three of your favorite vidders and why you like them so much.
I love all vidders :P, why must I pick only three?

Bradcpu - His videos from the beginning had inspired me to become a better vidder. His faith vid was my biggest inspiration. I became a fan ever since. His videos are soooo damn good. I was even determined to improve myself as a vidder to hopefully impress him with my vids one day, lol! It's true.

Grable424 - Perfect example of a vidder that can flawlessly integrate Voice overs and Sound effects in their fanvids. I am in awe of this vidders amazing vids! "Insane Like Me" is one of my favorites!

Sim Malec - Boy slash goals! I can't help but squee when this vidder post a new vid. I always love to see what the vidder comes up with. Lots and lots of good entertaining vids.

22. How do you feel about crack?
Love it! It's so much fun to make fun of characters, dialogue, etc.. Why not?! We all need a little humor here and there.

31. Which is your favorite site for posting vids?
My journals, website, twitter, tumblr and AO3 - pretty much everywhere.

32. Talk about your current vids in progress.
There's a lot just sitting in sony vegas waiting to be finished. I have one for Teen wolf, The Fall, random movies, multi-fandom ones, and soo much more.. The one I want to for sure finish one day is the Teen Wolf one, it's only on Season 1-2, but I absolutely love the vid idea and the parallels are on point! I have about a minute done. I'll try to finish that one soon. Then I want to work on a Faking it vid, now that the show is cancelled - I don't need hold off on making the video any longer.

33. Talk about a comment or review that made your day.
Anoel's review of Memo is so great! It made me smile so much and she was extremely detailed with her review. No one has ever taken the time to write a review like the one she did, so I appreciate it greatly still to this day.

34. Do you ever get rude reviews and how do you deal with them?
Not so much these days. I've had a few. One I got was on youtube when I was a newbie vidder. I wrote in my description how happy I was with the outcome of the video and someone wrote, "This sucks!!! This is not what a good video looks like."... Yeah rude much lol; But that comment drove me to work on improving my vids, so I can't be mad about it when it actually was good for me to read that. Also the dude was right, It really was a terrible vid, lol but of course back then when I made it I thought it was cool.

Now for the worst, one review I got actually changed how I felt about one of my vids. The review made me not want to watch "this" certain vid as often as I re-watch my others. I actually went years without watching it again. I even debated taking the video down because the vidder made me feel like I had done something really wrong and that my video came off a certain way. I felt pretty shitty about it and swore to never touch certain topics again. The reviewer apologized to me though and I get where they are coming from, but I still feel like to this day that I probably should have not made the video.

I am a lot more careful about what I vid these days. I pretty much stick to what's important and meaningful to me.

The end.

The Last of the Vidding Meme

Day 29 – What is your current project or projects?
Working on a few Ouran High School Host Club vids & RPF - Yuya Matsushita tributes.

Day 30 – Do you have a favorite vid you've made? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!
Well, I have a few that I really love in no particular order.

The 6 Between Us (Supernatural) - This has always been my favorite out of all the other spn vids I've made.
Let Go (Angel) - The first vid that I put my heart into making.
Losing Grip (ATWT) - I love me some Luke! Angst
Sleepwalking (Heroes) - One of the vids that I had so much fun making.
Tangled Up In Me (Playful Kiss) - My one and only cutsy vid so far.
Sick (Resident Evil) - my first action vid. Zombies! Milla! Whats not to love?!
Blow (Sucker Punch) - Another vid I had fun making. I also really like the musicallity in this one.

In conclusion to this meme, I still feel like I haven't made my "Best" fanvid. I do have some great ones, but I always feel like they are still missing something. In the future, I know I will make something that will really be fantastic.

Day 26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to do for a vid?

- AU Vid on top of AU source. Like A Boss.
- Making Dr. Horrible lip-sync to Britney Spears :P. Womanizer.
- Making Oh Ha Ni yell out, "Hey!", when in reality she is speaking Korean. Tangled Up In Me.
- Luke telling/showing Mason that his love for his boyfriend Noah, is better than Mason's love for Noah. My Love Is Better.

Day 27 – Where is your favorite place to vid? Where would be your perfect vidding spot?

At my computer desk with my beautiful 23' LED monitor and Bose speakers *even though I mostly use headphones so I won't drive other people crazy with the constant repeating of the song*. I'm pretty happy with my vidding spot. I just need a more comfortable chair.

Day 28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether vidding together, or having an artist or writer work on a piece about your vid?

I haven't, but maybe one day if anyone is interested :)

Day 23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

I post my work mostly within Livejournal ([livejournal.com profile] pulltheplug_tk & [livejournal.com profile] tiklemeskittles) and also at my website. I post always at [livejournal.com profile] vidding and other communities depending on what fandom I vid. To stream my vids, I use Youtube & Vimeo. I recently started posting my vids at my tumblr as well.

Day 24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your vid? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

I haven't used many betas in the past and I currently don't use any either. I don't really like asking 'cause I always feel like no one would care to beta my vids. Maybe I'm wrong? I think I should ask for a beta though at least sometimes, 'cause I know in the past having one really helped.

Day 25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you rip source? Do you listen to your vid song immediately before vidding, months before vidding, or just while working on it?

I listen to the music that I want to vid for months until I actually go and vid it. I tend to replay the song over and over, because it helps me think of scenes in my head that I want to use with the lyrics/song. I basically picture the vid in my head before vidding it and that's what helps me decide if the vid is worth vidding/will work. After I vid the song, I literally will never listen to the song again by itself *Only when I play back the vid I made*. If I do happen to listen to the song without hearing it through my vid, I end up replaying the vid in my head as it plays.. So I'd rather listen to the song while watching my vid..

Day 21 – Sequels – Have you ever created a sequel to a vid you made, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

I've never done a sequel to a vid before. I pretty much just finish a vid and move on. I honestly never even thought to do a sequel vid. The only thing that I would find would work with a sequel is on of my AU vids, but then again it would such a challenge to continue "the story" of the vid. I don't even think I've seen any fanvidders make vid sequels.. I'd be interested in seeing them.

Day 22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

I've participated in [community profile] festivids in 2010. I think festivids is great. I love everything about it. I love that we get to vid to small fandoms *it feels like I watch small fandoms the most*. I love watching vids on sources I don't know as well because it feels like "Oh so shiny! so new! omg I think I kind of like this! I should watch this show/movie!" I also like that we get to choose what fandoms we are willing to vid and what fandoms we would like someone to vid for us. Basically I enjoy the whole experience of festivids. I'm excited for this years! I will definitely be participating this year!

Day 18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your vids from?

Basically most of my inspiration is sparked by a fandom(s)/character(s)/relationship(s) that I really like.

Day 19 – When you have vid ideas, do you sit down and start vidding right away, or do you write down the idea for further exploration later?

I do both. Sometimes if I find a song that works for a fandom, I get all excited and start vidding.. But most of the time when I jump on vidding like that, I lose that excitement/get lazy and stop working on the vid which is a bad habit that I have. That's why I have like 30 vid projects that are unfinished *major fail*.. Sometimes it's actually a good thing when I stop working on a vid project and go back to working on it months or years later, the vid actually turns out even better. Other times, I just write down a vid idea and vid to it when I'm ready to work on it.

Day 20 – Do you ever get ideas inspired from other people's stories, vids, or art in the same fandom?

I do get inspired by other people's work. I read this one story once that I absolutely loved and I had planned to make a fanvid inspired by it, but I gave it up after having trouble finding all the outside sources that I needed to make it work.
