MEME QUESTIONS
My favorite video this year (of my own):
This one is kind of hard because I really loved each vid I worked on this year. Narrowing it down makes it a three-way tie between "Lonely B*tch", "SUPERSCAR" and "To The Grave". I absolutely just love these videos.
"Lonely B*tch" was so fun to make, but before I started working on it; I honestly didn't know how well I would be able to edit the source to the song, but it surpassed my expectations. It came out perfect!
"SUPERSCAR" was a blast to make; So much so, that I couldn't stop working on it once I started on it. It was definitely the song choice too that made me enjoy editing this. I'm a sucker for weird! movies/shows so this was right up my alley.
"To The Grave" is a unique one for me. I feel like this one stands out differently from anything else I've made. It's kind of on the lines of how I edited "Howl" (falling skies), but different in it's own way. I think this is the first fanvid where I used the most voiceovers, but not overly done. I felt like it enhanced the video and helped to narrate what was going on. I also really enjoyed playing around with going back and forth through out different periods of time. I took my time with this one and it was honestly not stressful at all to make. It's funny because I wanted to edit this movie, but I did not have high expectations on the fanvid I was going to make for it, until I started putting down the voiceovers that is what carried me through beginning to end.
Honorable Mention: "Ugly Side" for the editing / music choice. This vid hits too close to home for me, so it's hard for me to consider it my favorite but I put every fiber of my being into this vid so that is why I am mentioning it.
My least favorite video this year:
"Talk to Me" only because I did not really try too hard with that video and don't consider it my best work. I still wanted to make the video though because I really liked Xandra's story.
Most successful video:
"Like I Do" according to youtube views, engagements, and I gained a lot more subscribers because of that video. I have a feeling it was the cover photo I chose because a lot of people were expecting the video to be about something else and were surprised it wasn't what they thought lol.
Video most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I feel like "SUPERSCAR" did not reach many views at all on youtube even though all the other videos on The Substance on there has thousands of views. Just didn't understand how the video got such low views which stinks 'cause I'm obsessed with that video lol.
Most fun video:
"Hummingbird" because of dancing <3. "SUPERSCAR" for the editing! Also the first unreleased video for TGIF/F was super fun to make and was the first video I edited and completed after a 4 year hiatus. It was the perfect video to get myself back into editing and enjoying it.
Video with single sexiest moment:
Zelda fantasizing about Ben in her bed in "Lonely B*tch" at the 49 second mark.
Biggest vid fail:
Mostly just technical difficulties with my Falling Skies clips. I converted the show using Handbrake, and some of the clips didn't come out too good. Another one that drives me nuts to this day is just a personal preference of mine lol, but the close up shot of Zelda and Ben on the Ferris wheel at the end of the video "Lonely B*tch". I wish I would have added panning to that clip 'cause it's so still. Sometimes little things like that bother me.
Hardest video to make:
"Like I Do" because there was times I got stuck on that video. I wasn't really feeling the video at first because the clips were just not working for me with the music. I am very keen on matching the music to the clips & I just felt like at the beginning it wasn't to my liking / standards. So I took a couple breaks from this video to work on other projects. When I came back to it, I tried again. Kept working at it until I was finally happy. Ran into technical difficulties as well which delayed me a little bit.
Easiest video to make:
"Hummingbird" most definitely. I think I made it in a day and I didn't have to go through many clips since I was trying to stay on theme.
Favorite song to edit to:
"Lonely Bitch" and "SUPERSCAR"
The things I've learned this year:
- That my drive to create vids hasn't officially died, but rather it was revived this year!
- Keep creating what I want to create regardless if anyone watches it or not :).
For 2025:
1. I have TGIF/F premieres and Festivids premiere vids for Jan/Feb 2025.
2. I'm going to make these darn Locke & Key vids. They are coming, but It's taking forever to cut clips for the show because I'm cutting clips with 4+ vids in mind and separating my clip cuts on each timeline just so I don't have to cut clips again for each vid lol.
3. I'm just going to edit when I feel like I have something that I really want to put together.
and....The end..... Till next time!
